For all you supporters of LA’s youth get down to the Bresee Foundation on May 1st for the 6th Annual Youth Film Festival on Social Justice in Los Angeles.

The deets: Next Thursday, May 26th at 7:00p.m. is the 6th Annual Youth Film Festival on Social Justice. This year’s theme is Unhealthy L.A.?: Is Los Angeles a healthy or unhealthy city for youth? Please come out and support local youth as they showcase their films! Student photography from Venice Arts’ project Picturing Health will also be on display at the event.

This Friday the ICEF Visual and Media Arts Department is holding its 1st All ICEF Public Schools Art Exhibition.

Student artwork, films, graphic design, and animation from all 15 ICEF Public Schools, grades K-12 will be on display.
The exhibit is open to all community, students, staff, and families.

Location: Norm Maxwell Gallery at 430 N. Fairfax, Los Angeles, CA 90036.

ArtCard On Location… Next weekend at Avenue 50 Studio 400+ artist will be exhibiting their work in one giant collaborative show. The exhibition will feature artist from all over The City of Los Angeles (52+ Neighborhoods) with a section of the show featuring artwork by students from the Visual and Performing Arts High School Downtown and Hollenbeck Middle School in Boyle Heights.

Come support the community arts and immerse yourself in the art of L.A.

What is an ArtCard?

An ArtCard is simply a blank postcard with a set of instructions printed on the back.

What We Are Doing

Our team of dedicated volunteers has been strategically placing ArtCards all over The City of Los Angeles — in coffee shops, art galleries, community centers, schools, etc. — with the intent to facilitate a citywide community art project linking LA’s heterogeneous range of artistic practice. We are encourage people to mail their sketches, doodles, collages, prints and words to help document the city’s varied and eclectic creative framework.

ArtCards are published in an online archive (www.la-artist.com/artcard) that will become a platform for artistic expression, talent, and understanding. The concept is simple but we believe it is going to be an effective way to encourage people to participate, appreciate and learn more about the mixture of artistic practices here in Los Angeles.

This Saturday from 1 – 5 pm LA-Artist will be exhibiting the complete and original ArtCard collection (400 cards from 40 neighborhoods) for the first time. The FREE show is in collaboration with YAM LA which is a partnership between 18 community based organizations here in Los Angeles.

The show will include youth photography, film, music, food and wicked cool workshops. The FREE show is located at Mercado La Paloma, 3655 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90007 from 1-5pm this Saturday September 25th!!!

Great news! LA-Artist.com’s ArtCard project has finally started to gain momentum. The citywide art collaboration has attracted over one hundred and twenty artists from across Los Angeles and is showcasing artwork from twenty five different neighborhoods.

On September the 25th the ArtCard project will be exhibited for the first time at the Youth Art & Media festival in South Los Angeles. It will be the projects first major event and will showcase artwork from across the city in one giant collaborative art show.
